Students who wish to audition for a main character and/or main dancing role need to attend BOTH the dance audition on Friday, October 11th and a speaking/singing audition on either Monday, October 14th or Tuesday, October 15th. Sign up for a time for the speaking/singing audition below.
You do NOT need to audition if you just want to be part of the chorus ensemble (no speaking role). Just come register on Oct. 14 or Oct. 15 after school.

Frequently Asked Questions:
Who can be in the musical?
Any student in grades 2-6 may register to be in the musical. The majority of the major speaking roles will be cast to students in upper grades. Younger students will fill chorus/ensemble parts.
How much does participation cost?
The registration fee is $35 per student, whether you have a speaking role or not. You can pay with check or cash at registration, or you can pre-pay with a card online from your myDSD account. The registration fee will be listed as “Lion King Musical Registration Fee.” Please bring a printed receipt from myDSD with you to your audition/registration.
Does a parent have to volunteer to help with the musical?
Yes. Part of the agreement with registration is that a member of your family volunteer for 4 or more hours. The only reason we can keep our costs low is that everyone will contribute some time to help. If a parent can’t volunteer, another family member can volunteer in his or her place, or they can choose to become a sponsor for $100. All parent volunteers will get preferential pre-sales ticket purchasing.
When and where are auditions?
Auditions for speaking roles and/or singing solos will be on Monday-Tuesday, October 14th and 15th after school in the library. Go to the school website https://bountifulel.davis.k12.ut.us to sign up for an audition time. (Check the “Activities” tab at the top of the main page.)
The Lion King Jr also has many dancing numbers in it. Therefore, we are adding a dance portion to our auditions. Students in grades 3-6 interested in a main character role and/or being cast in a small group dance should plan to attend the dance practice on Friday, October 11th from 1:30-2:30 p.m. in the gym. We will teach you a short dance, so wear comfy shoes.
What do I need to do to prepare for auditions?
Come ready to sing one verse of “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” or “I Just Can’t Wait to Be King.” A practice track will be available on the school website. You will also read a page from the script. Possible reading selections will also be posted online. Bring your $35 registration fee and paperwork signed by a parent, or be prepared to fill it out there.
What if I don’t want a speaking part or a singing part?
If you are in 3-6th grade, you can still audition, or you can just come register for the chorus. All 2nd graders will automatically be in the chorus and do not audition. Come register after school on Oct 14th or 15th between 3:30-5:30 p.m. with your $35 registration fee and paperwork signed by a parent, or be prepared to fill it out there.
When will rehearsals be?
Some characters, like Lionesses or Hyenas, require their own dance practices. They will be asked to come once or twice a week before school starting in November. Other rehearsals start January 7th before school from 7:30-8:30 a.m. on Mondays-Thursdays depending on which scenes are scheduled. The full cast (including 2nd graders and chorus) will practice on Fridays after school from 1:30-3:30 p.m. (Take out phrase) Rehearsals during dress/tech week right before performances may go later. You will be emailed a weekly schedule to tell which days you will be needed.
When will the performances be?
Performances will be the 26th, 27th, 28th, and 29th of February 2020.
